Happy 1st Birthday Josiah!!

Friday, August 15th was Josiah's first birthday. We're currently in the US for a few weeks and we were able to spend Josiah's birthday with my (Mel) family. It was a good day but a hard one for me.
It's hard to believe that in only a year, Josiah went from this...

to THIS!!!
The birthday boy! Can you see the streaks on my face from crying all day?!?!

Cake!

He never really ate the cake like we thought he would. He seemed to enjoy just tearing it apart.

He finally got tired of tearing the cake apart. After a quick bath, it was time to open presents!!

He was excited even before he began.

Stephen, Amelia and Catherine (the big cousins) had to make sure the toys were okay for Josiah to play with!

Nani even got in on the toy fun.

And it's a rare occasion to get our whole family together, so we had to take a few photos. From the back right to left is my brother-in-law, my brother, my dad and Aaron. In the front (from the right) is my sister, her three kids, my mom, Josiah and me.

Here's the "before we ate chocolate cake" shot:

and here's after!!

All in all, Josiah had a great first birthday...even if it did come too quickly for me.

Hazel says, "Happy Birthday Josiah!!"

Sorry it was rough - that's a good warning for me though, to prepare for Hazel's "you grew too fast" party.

Can't wait to hear more about your time in the US!

Time sure does fly, doesn't it? They grow up too fast sometimes. I tell Shanti all the time not to grow up too fast...she always cocks her head and says, "why?" - hehe! Happy birthday, Josiah!

Wow - one already! Happy Birthday Josiah! That is neat that you could be in the states to celebrate. Yep, I totally understand the tears, I spent the entire month of August last year tearing up daily because Lydia is growing up so fast. So far, 2 seems to be easier. Her birthday is Friday and I'm not crying yet. Have a great time visiting family - want to stop by Egypt on your way home?!
